How much can a set of shelves take
Lean against the wall and hold this history
take the Czar the Nazis the uprising
And press on the joints until the wall creaks
The screws strain and the drywall
pulls on its perfect studs
The smell of old paper is vanilla
Volatile organic compounds leaping
as pages turn causing the age to give itself
The smell of burning paper is endless dark
