Poem-A-Day Reprint : Rom-com

I need a day off. So here's an old poem.

Rom-com 2/13/10

See -
I need you to be perfect
But also broken - I'm
broken

I need a little
rose-colored light
on this balcony

Some flowers
come cuddle with me
watch some Hart To Hart

I'm - broken
but the bruises are
flowering

Poem-A-Day Reprint : New Year's

A reprint from New Year's Eve 2010

New Year's 12/31

Hope
            is something that I measure
in milliliters I pour it over my head in the shower
in bath houses
                                    I stand in steam rooms
and run it over the coals

Hope is a flower in a railyard
            thriving

                                    I'm trying to have more
Trying to collect it in jars

Some kind of insect emotion
that I can hoard

Hope
is the new year coming up and opening
its arms             I am trying

This poem first appeared on October 12, 2009.

Whirligig (10/12)

This pen winds up the world
clocks the birds and makes heaven tilt

On the back the key slowly spinning
A hole is an iris then an opening then a flower in bloom

Inside the world are springs
this language is making the universe darken
then lighten

It comes back on itself
this pen will write into a corner then invent
the corner and then make a door then invent
the opening of the door

This pen is its own key
it has teeth and eyes and knows

This pen is a deluge of piranha in your bathtub

Poem-A-Day Reprint : Rowdy-dow

A reprint from August 15th of 2011.

Rowdy-dow 8/15

Late at night the rain
against the leaves
soft foam sound

Amongst them the drum beats
far off and then the light of fire

When eyes are closed
and the cool air swirls
about your naked chest

There is the sense that this
eternal war will cease in our lifetimes

That the endless glow
of sword on breastbone
will ember and ash

That whatever horse we crawled out of could take us back in

Poem-A-Day Reprint : Gut-buster

This is an edit of an earlier poem-a-day.

Gut-buster 7/11/2010

A horse walked into a bar
            on hind legs

The subtle arching

            below knees to hoof
is what caught my eye

That this was a real honest-
to-god horse

            It had balls and cock
and the whole wax
            of mane running Fabio

He sat alone in the corner
            ordered some horsey
drink – I watched all night

            Dark oil pool eyes
blinking at me

Reprint

Today is a reprint of a random poem form the archives. I've still deciding what to do with Wednesdays until I have my short story ready to go.

In light of all the people eating each other. Here, is Zombie from October 2009.

Zombie 10/30

Tracing ourselves we reinvent the wheel then fire

We reorganize our closets by season then color

Gravity only exists because we start recognizing its existence

Our eyes roll endlessly as we talk about our newness

Blood in out and over they say lick their wounds lick

This circle is for believers only this other one is for something else
