Alien
I want to go to Mars -
They are sending them in - are going to give them the keys to the place
experiments and the building of bubbles to live in
I dream of the bubble housing the smaller bubbles
The small growing things in the shield of man-made ecosystem
Think about the likes on those selfies -
God this is boring - is broken - there is a sense that a hole in the window would send everything in this world into space
It will freeze there
Lose itself in the not-black not-dark
Why don't we have a word for the color of space - the vacuum of our heads
I want to go to Mars -
Put on that suit - drift in the expanse for years - and come out the other side alone
where I would send cryptic emails and video messages
Where I would piss on the dead sand of that planet and make castles from the mud
Mainly -
I don't want to talk to people anymore
And that is the thing that resonates - the internet has left me not wanting to hear or be heard
I long for a rotary phone that only clicks and never receives but that's not true because Candy Crush -
Here is the buoy in the open wilds of imagination - it blinks seven times
is silent -
is even and calm - it only knows what fingers have touched it tell it to know
It beckons -

Poem-A-Day #43 : Drake & Fermi
Drake & Fermi
There must
be hotline bling in the universe
HA
And we must be able to quantify that
I see what you did there - and the unanswered call is the one where your mother tells you your father was in an accident and is dead is gone is nevercomingback...
Let's be clear about the emptiness of space - the drifting tilting tombs of the big bang that can never reflect anything but their nothingness...
It's fucking empty
The equation of leaving the city
that is the earth
The math of going out more - meeting new people
Tell me that SETI doesn't want a friend to call when that accident happens
It all breaks apart if anyone picks up the phone -
leaves a message or -
emails an out of the office notice
Maybe there's a signpost - a sort of neon club sign that is suddenly in view at some as yet unattained step - do we even know the steps - the
m

v e
Your {The R/The L} feet - they are melting as they near the horizon
as they become fodder for the cow of the universe {black hole]
It's sad to see this it can only mean one thing
the crashed car unfolds itself
the station to station of our talking echoes into the heavens
somewhere
the sound of Motorola
and that guy from that commercial asking if you can hear him now -
There must
be hotline bling in the universe

Poem-A-Day #18 : Boom
Boom
Here there be
aliens
Probing
What is the path of the asteroid
elliptical ovoid
the shape of a goat's eye
It lands in the field
burning leaving scars
in the forests
It leaves a ball of ice
full of limbs blood
melting weapons
full of ammunition

Varicose
Varicose (The Grinning Man) 10/3
Always alone
Always alone
and then this
tall man this
unreasonably
tall man in a
metallic green
jumpsuit
always on the
other side of
a fence or the
road or outside
a window at
night
He’s grinning
like a nightmare
big and toothy
and like it’s
painted on
and there’s no
nose or ears
and possibly
no hair
Then he’s gone
and it’s still
night or you’re
alone and there
is a space where
this man was
staring back at
you like a hole
being burned
in paper
Slow and steady
you never sleep
without thinking
your eyes
will open
he will be
above you
